Cours de Pr Eric Gaussier, UJF Grenoble -  Dates : du 11 au 17 septembre 2007 - Lieu : Centre MICA.

Abstract:
The goal of this course is to provide an overwiew of the models and methods used in Multilingual Information Retrieval. After a general introduction to Information Retrieval, we present the main strategies for crossing the language barrier, focusing on the models behind them, the type of resources they require and their complexity. In particular, we focus on how multilingual information contained in parallel and comparable corpora can be exploited for domain-specific multilingual information retreival, and combined with general multilingual dictionaries. The different models, and their associated algorithms, will be exemplified throuh case studies of existing systems and developments of specific prototypes.

This course was presented in the framework of the European Asia-link "CONE" 'Collaborative Open Network for Education".
