Résume/Abstract:
Navigational aids for the visually impaired is an active research topic in recent years. In this presentation, I will first introduce and present related works to the problem of aiding the visually impaired to navigate in environment. The analysis of each method makes motivations to propose an approach for navigational aids using Robot. I will then explain the general framework of my proposed system which includes main modules: localization, obstacle avoiding, human-machine interaction and navigation in narrow environment. My works focus on: i) improving travel reconstruction precision using man marker, ii) improving the localization performance thanks to scene classification step using GIST features in the traditional FAB-MAP; iii) proposing a fast and efficient method for static obstacle detection and distance estimation; iv) proposing a simple but efficient method for human robot interaction. The experiments have been carried out with numerous scenarios with blind pupil in the corridor of Nguyen Dinh Chieu School for Blind, MICA, HUST, Ta Quang Buu library shows the feasibility of the proposed system in reality.
