"Introduction
for Intermedia Modelling" J.P. Chevallet - IPAL
I will introduce this meeting by raising some questions about multi-media
analysis. The first is managing several media for a single goal, like
indexing, scene understanding. Second I will discuss the notion of reasoning
versus statistical computations. This leads to the notion of semantics.
Beside the question of whether semantics is added or extracted from media,
this is what all research tends to reach: having some results from a
computation that seems to have some meaning. Finally, I end up with the
feasibility of a common model that cross modality and applications: is it an
impossible dream?
"Analysis
of multimodality" Thomas Martin - MICA Center
In this presentation, we analyse the relations between the different
modalities (audio, video, text, ...) and their effects on a multi-modal
content analysis. First, we define the modalities and their relationships.
Next, we apply this to three different example applications. Finally, we
present some related work in progress at MICA and proposal of future
collaborations inside the ISERE project.
"From Visual Data to
Semantics" Monique Thonnat - INRIA Sophia
The goal of this talk is to provide some material for the discussion on
Semantics, Ontology, Reasoning versus Probabilty session
"Two
proposals for unification" Mun Kew - I2R
The purpose is to look at two potential applications which are
pre-competitive with the hope that ISERE members may be interested in working
in these areas
"On
Constructing Intelligent Environment Using Computer Vision Technology" Yi-Ping Hung
- NTU
One of the major research focuses in the vision group (IPPR lab -
http://ippr.csie.ntu.edu.tw:8080/index.html ) of the i-Space Labs
(http://mll.csie.ntu.edu.tw/ispace.htm) has been on visual surveillance and
monitoring, with applications on i-Secure (access monitoring of secure areas)
and i-Care (activity monitoring for home care). With the previous experience
on camera network and its calibration for 3D inference, and on human
detection, tracking, and recognition, we would like to seek possible
cooperation on recognition of human activity with semantics and reasoning.
